About Gia-Rayne B. Harris

Gia-Rayne is Writer-Director who focuses on complex, character-driven narratives. She seeks to place womxn and BIPOC individuals at the center of her work and sees her career as a love letter to them,

more specifically the women who raised her.

Harris is a Mississippi native and an alumna of the University of Pennsylvania. She has been writing and directing professionally since 2018 and is a recent graduate of the American Film Institute

with a Masters Degree in Fine Arts in Directing.

Gia-Rayne lived in New York City for five years writing, directing, producing and performing. In 2018 she created #LEADWITHLOVE, a global campaign with The Advocate Magazine. While in New York she was also a NEW YORK NEO FUTURIST for two years and premiered over 70 of her own short plays in that time. 

She has directed 12 short films that have screened at various festivals, including OUTFEST,

the AMERICAN BLACK FILM FESTIVAL (ABFF), NEWFEST, and the PAN AFRICAN FILM FESTIVAL.

She was named a finalist for the HBO Short Film Award at ABFF in 2022 for her short film

Pens & Pencils, which was nominated for an NAACP Image Award in 2023 and is currently on MAX.  

 

Most recently, Harris was named the recipient of SeriesFest and Shondaland’s 2022 Women Directing Mentorship.  She was also selected as a part of the NBCULaunch Female Forward Program 2022-2023 and made her TV directing debut on CHICAGO PD in January 2023. 

 

Harris is repped by Heroes and Villains Entertainment.
